Safe Haven Homes & Design is a custom home builder rooted in North Idaho. We design and build from the ground up — from the Estates at Farragut to your own acreage — carrying every project in-house, from the first sketch to the day you get the keys.
Our standard is simple and it never moves: ten-foot ceilings, nine-foot solid Alder doors, natural stone and timber, and craftsmanship you can feel in every room. Nature inspires the work, and we're grateful to bring it home.

Austin Hern brings extensive experience and a client-first approach to building custom homes tailored to each homeowner’s vision. With deep roots across the Pacific Northwest, he works closely with trusted subcontractors, skilled trades, and local municipalities to ensure every Safe Haven home is built with quality, efficiency, and a seamless process from start to finish. Known for his attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship, Austin delivers homes that balance comfort, design, and lasting value — making him a trusted partner for clients building their forever home.
With over 15 years of experience in construction and home building, Donald brings proven leadership and technical expertise to every project. He has managed residential builds for respected companies including Hayden Homes, D.R. Horton, and Anthem Pacific — overseeing nearly 100 homes, six of which were featured in the prestigious Parade of Homes. Prior to residential construction, Donald served as a Senior Operations Coordinator on Department of Defense contracts, managing operations, maintenance, and logistics across the Middle East. That background shaped his disciplined approach, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence, and today he applies that same precision and integrity to every Safe Haven Homes project.
Gabe guides new clients from the first conversation to signed plans — helping families find the right homesite, the right plan, and a process that feels clear the whole way through. As partner, he keeps every build moving and every client in the loop.
